Overview
Social Saver is a Chrome extension that allows users to collect post links and
thumbnails from Instagram and Threads, and export that data locally as CSV or JSON files.
We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Data We Access
The extension reads the following information from the current browser tab:
- Post URLs (links to individual Instagram or Threads posts)
- Post thumbnail image URLs
- The platform name (Instagram or Threads)
- A local timestamp indicating when the post was collected
This data is only read when you actively click Start Capture.
How Data Is Used
- All collected data is stored only in your browser's memory during the active session.
- Data is never sent to any external server, third party, or database.
- Data is exported exclusively to your local device as a CSV or JSON file when you choose to do so.
- No data persists after you close the side panel or the browser tab.
Permissions Used
- storage — Temporarily holds scraped data during the active session within the browser.
- activeTab — Identifies whether the current tab is Instagram or Threads before capture begins.
- scripting — Injects a content script to read post information from the page DOM.
- sidePanel — Displays the extension UI as a Chrome side panel.
- host permissions (instagram.com, threads.com) — Required to run the content script on these platforms. No data from these pages is transmitted anywhere.
Data Sharing
We do not collect, store, share, sell, or transmit any user data.
All information remains on your local device at all times.
Third-Party Services
This extension does not integrate with any third-party analytics, tracking,
or advertising services.
Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not
knowingly collect any personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected
on this page with an updated date.
